Barclay Brown provide insurance against business legal expenses. The annual insurance policy premiums are:

Employment | Legal cover for the defence of legal proceedings arising from disputes with employees, ex-employees and prospective employees in respect of contracts of employment and/or breaches of the employment legislation. Awards of compensation under employment legislation are included in the cover provided. Cover is also provided for disputes regarding the recovery of property, which the insured owns but is occupied by an employee or ex-employee. It should be noted that our free legal advisers must be consulted and their advice followed before dismissing an employee whether or not by reason of redundancy or materially changing the particulars of an employee's contract of employment. In addition our Employment Tribunal Service must be used in the event of any proceedings before an Employment Tribunal. | ||||||
Prosecution | Cover for the defence of a criminal prosecution and appeals against Notices served under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act. | ||||||
Contract Dispute | For the pursuit or defence of legal proceedings arising from a dispute with a customer or supplier, in respect of a contract with that customer or supplier, for the sale, purchase, hire or supply of goods or services. | ||||||
Taxation | For representation in the event of investigations by Government Departments into the insured's liability for taxation or value added tax, or taxation of employees. | ||||||
Data Protection | In the pursuit or defence of any legal proceedings arising out of the Data Protection Act 1984 including but not limited to an appeal by the Insured | ||||||
Property | For the pursuit or defence of legal proceedings relating to the insured's rights as the owner or occupier of property physically occupied by the insured provided that the insured has suffered or could suffer pecuniary loss if the legal proceedings are not pursued or defended. This cover would exclude landlord/tenant and construction disputes. | ||||||
Statutory Licence | For the costs of making an appeal to any statutory authority which suspends, revokes, refuses or alters the terms of any licence held by your business. | ||||||
Witness Attendance | This provides up to £150 per day per person, subject to a maximum Allowance of £10,000, should the insured be required to attend court as a Witness for a claim under the policy. | ||||||
Jury Service | This provides up to £150 per day per person, subject to a maximum Allowance of £10,000, should the insured or a director, partner or employee be required to attend court for jury service insofar as their salary, income or wages are not recoverable from the court. | ||||||
Limits of Indemnity | Any one claim £50,000 | ||||||
Territorial Limits | This insurance only covers claims made in the United Kingdom. | ||||||
Important Notes | If this is the first time you have held this kind of insurance, there is a lead in time of three months during which time no claims can be made. This insurance is provided on a claims made basis- only claims reported to FirstAssist Group Limited during the period of insurance will be considered under the insurance.
